BH EnergyGap, a partnership established to address the shortage of renewable energy in the UK, will be submitting a new planning application this winter to develop a Resource Recovery and Renewable Energy Production Facility (the 3Rs) at Fryers Road, Birchills Leamore, Walsall.

As the cost of waste disposal continues to rise, there is ever more pressure on businesses to ensure their waste is properly recycled and processed and not sent directly to landfill. However, there is a real shortage of facilities to support the local business community in delivering best practise waste management.

The 3Rs facility will safely process this waste.  Materials will be sorted and segregated to recover their value. Materials such as metals, plastics and rubble for onward recycling will be treated using the latest sorting technology such as magnets, eddy currents, near infrared cameras and air jets.  The residual materials will be used to produce energy using advanced thermal treatment.  The resulting gas will be used to produce electricity or potentially heat for export from the site.  All activities will provide a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels and primary materials.

BH EnergyGap will be holding a public exhibition for local residents and businesses to find out more about the plans proposed for the Fryers Road site.  The exhibition will be at the Mirus Academy school, (previously know as Frank Harrison Engineering College), Willenhall Lane entrance,  Birchills Leamore, Walsall on:

Friday 26/10/12 from 3.00pm – 7.00pm

Staff will be on hand at all times to welcome residents and answer any questions.
